At Ayacucho, we design gear that performs in the outdoors and holds up over time. Where possible, we use recycled, organic, natural, and mono-materials to help reduce waste and support recyclability always with comfort, function, and durability in mind.

We’re also working to improve circularity in our designs and extend product lifecycles through thoughtful construction and material choices.

Animal Welfare

We believe that enjoying nature shouldn’t come at the expense of animal well-being. That’s why we choose certified wool and responsibly sourced or recycled down, and we expect our suppliers to follow ethical practices as outlined in our Code of Conduct.

Our goal is simple: to make gear that respects both people and the planetstep by step, season after season.

No use of fur

We do not use fur in any of our products. This is a conscious choice to help protect wildlife from unnecessary harm.

Responsible Wool

We are dedicated to using only responsibly sourced wool, ensuring high standards of animal welfare and sustainable land management. This means sheep are treated with care, unnecessary suffering is prevented, and farmers prioritise both animal well-being and environmentally responsible methods.

We are Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified, ControlUnion CB-CUC- 1241771.
Only the products which carry the RWS label and claim are certified.
RWS
certifies and tracks wool from the source to final product.

Responsible & Recycled Down

Our down is either RDS-certified or recycled. This helps prevent practices like live-plucking and ensures traceability from source to final product.

Certification: Responsible Down Standard (RDS) – Control Union CB-CUC-1241771
Only products carrying the RDS label are certified.

We continue to improve our sourcing practices step by step to ensure our gear respects both nature and the animals that live in it.

Sustainable & innovative materials

At Ayacucho, we aim to design outdoor gear that performs well and is made with care. That means choosing materials that help reduce waste, extend product life, and support responsible production without compromising comfort or durability.

Recycled Materials

We use recycled polyester (rPET) from post-consumer plastic bottles and recycled nylon from pre-consumer sources. These materials help reduce reliance on virgin resources and support circular use.

We are Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certifiedControl Union CB-CUC-1241771. Only products carrying the GRS label are certified.

We acknowledge the challenges of using recycled fibres, such as microfibre shedding, and are working on investigating these effects. While we aspire to textile- to-textile recycling, we recognise this remains a work in progress.

Organic & Recycled Cotton

Where possible, we use organic cotton, grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, and recycled cotton to reduce textile waste. These choices support healthier ecosystems and working conditions.

We are Organic Content Standard (OCS) certifiedControl Union CB-CUC-1241771. Only products carrying the OCS label are certified.

SaXcell™ LYOCELL

SaXcell™ is a pioneering fibre made from recycled textile waste, giving discarded fabrics a second life while reducing landfill waste. This innovative material supports a circular fashion economy by regenerating used textiles into high-quality fibres without compromising durability or performance. We use SaXcell™ in combination with organic and recycled cotton in our comfortable T-shirts.

Hemp

Hemp is a natural fibre requiring minimal water and no pesticides while offering exceptional durability and breathability. It is naturally resistant to UV rays and mould, making it ideal for outdoor apparel. However, pure hemp fabric can be stiff, so it is often blended with other fibres, such as cotton, to improve softness. This blending process makes recycling more complex, but we are working to optimise the use of hemp in our collections.

GreenFirst® Anti-Mosquito

GreenFirst® is a biodegradable, plant-based mosquito repellent that provides effective protection without harmful chemicals. This technology ensures safety for both the environment and human health. We use this in our anti-mosquito travel collection and the treatment is effective up to 10-15 washes.

FUZE™ Odour Control

F FUZE™ is an innovative odour control technology that does not rely on harmful chemicals or heavy metals. By preventing the buildup of bacteria that cause odour, it extends freshness between washes, reducing water and energy consumption while enhancing product longevity.

Eco Quick Dry

Eco Quick Dry is a plant-based treatment designed to enhance the moisture-wicking and quick-drying properties of fabrics. It improves comfort and performance, particularly in outdoor conditions where staying dry is essential. By allowing fabrics to dry faster, this treatment also reduces energy-intensive drying processes.

PFC-Free Water Repellency

Traditional durable water-repellent (DWR) treatments often contain perfluorocarbons (PFCs), which persist in the environment and can be harmful to both ecosystems and human health. We almost exclusively use PFC-free DWR, including Teflon EcoElite™ and BIONICFINISH® ECO.

Management of Chemicals and Harmful substances

At Ayacucho, we take product safety seriously for the health of people and the planet. That’s why we follow strict internal guidelines and work closely with our suppliers to manage chemicals responsibly.

Phasing out PFAS

We are committed to eliminating PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) from our products by 2027. These substances are commonly used for water repellency but are persistent in the environment and linked to health risks.

We aim to keep any PFAS content below the EU limit of 50 ppm, and we’re working with suppliers to minimize unintentional traces through improved testing and production processes.

PFC-Free Water Repellency

All Ayacucho products must comply with EU and UK REACH regulations, which restrict hazardous chemicals such as heavy metals and formaldehyde. These standards help protect workers, consumers, and the environment.

We’re committed to continuous improvementand to making gear that’s safe, reliable, and responsibly made.

Built to Last

At Ayacucho, we believe that making gear last longer is one of the most impactful things we can do. That’s why we focus on durabilityrepairability, and reusability helping reduce waste and extend the life of every product.

Built for durability

Our extended warranty reflects our confidence in the durability and craftsmanship of Ayacucho products. By offering longer coverage, we encourage repairs over replacements, reducing waste and supporting sustainable consumption. Proper care of your gear also helps protect the environment.

Care & repair

Together with our retail partners A.S.Adventure, Beverand Cotswold Outdoor, we support repair services and offer repair patches and spare parts. Regular care and small fixes can go a long way in keeping your gear adventure-ready.

Rental options

Selected Ayacucho products are available for rental via our retail partners A.S.Adventure, Bever — a circular solution that reduces the need for new production and makes quality gear more accessible.

Second life

Even at the end of their lifespan, Ayacucho products still hold value. Proper disposal is essential to minimise environmental impact.
We encourage customers to return their used items to our partners, A.S.Adventure, Bever, and Cotswold Outdoor, who offer recycling and repurposing services.

Circularity

At Ayacucho, we design with the future in mind. Circularity means making products that last, can be repaired, and
 where possible recycled.

We prioritise:
Durability to extend product life
Mono-material designs to simplify recycling
Natural alternatives where possible, as they are renewable and biodegradable

While we still rely on synthetic materials for performance, we’re working closely with long-term suppliers to explore innovative, more circular solutions. It’s an ongoing challengebut one we’re committed to.

Traceability of our Value Chain

We believe that knowing where and how our products are made is essential to doing better. That’s why we work with our suppliers to improve traceability across the value chain from raw materials to finished product.

Our Code of Conduct sets clear expectations for ethical and responsible sourcing. We require detailed supply chain mapping to help verify product integrity and support accurate sustainability claims.

It’s a work in progress, but we’re committed to improving step by step, together with our partners.

Our Internal Sustainability Standard

As part of the Yonderland group, Ayacucho follows an internal standard to assess the environmentalsocial, and animal welfare impact of our products. This framework helps us track progress, identify areas for improvement, and encourage responsible practices throughout our supply chain.

Although this rating system is no longer publicly communicated, it continues to guide our decisions from material sourcing to production. By holding ourselves and our partners to high standards, we aim to make better choices at every step.
